Alice Cicero And Maria Luana Giuffrè they climb to the third step of the podium at Csen National Pole Dance Championship which were held on 14, 15 and 16 June at the Palabandinelli in Velletri (Rome). More than a thousand participants for this specialty which is a mix of dance and pole gymnastics, in which complex aerial figures are coordinated with fluid movements on the pole. Alice Cicerone, 23 years old, came third overall in the emerging senior under 30 category, while Maria Laura Giuffrè had the same result in the emerging senior under 40 category.



For years, pole dancing has been recognized as a real discipline with regulations, judges and championships. Italy entered competitions only in 2010. Pole dancing, like gymnastics, has over the years been equipped with a scoring system, rules and anti-doping regulations (with tests conducted by Wada, the world anti-doping agency), which allowed it to achieve sports status. Pole dance sport is a competitive discipline that focuses on strength, agility and technique. Pole dance sport athletes perform complex acrobatic movements on the bar, such as inversions, static figures and trick combinations. This style requires intense training and complete physical preparation. The pole dancing sport has been proposed as a possible Olympic discipline and is making significant progress towards Olympic approval. Its inclusion would be a great recognition for pole dancing as a legitimate form of sport
