Having survived the bridge crisis, miracles appear to have happened in Savarna. Some newspapers talked about it and the Diocese wanted to immediately clarify “about the events in Savarna” before things get out of hand: “It is in the Eucharist that the ‘miracle’ on which our faith is based is celebrated on the altar”. In short, dear faithful, don’t go looking for strange stories.
“Miracles have always existed in the Church: faith can draw support from them, but they do not change the fundamental truths in which we believe. Already in June 2023, the Diocese had published a note through the weekly Risveglio regarding “alleged bleeding of a host” that would have occurred in the Savarna church at the beginning of 2023, at the center of a press article published today. – we read in the note from the Diocese – To recognize the supernatural nature of such an event requires a scrupulous examination and a decree from the authority. From the analyzes carried out by the diocese on the material delivered, which was entirely used, no elements emerged that could confirm the supernatural nature of the facts reported to the Curia last year. Given the degradation of the host (placed in a container with water), which might not even have been consecrated, we are not faced with the Eucharist as the real presence of Christ.”
As the Archbishop of Ravenna-Cervia, Monsignor Lorenzo Ghizzoni, explained in the homily for the feast of Corpus Domini, it is in the Eucharist which is celebrated on the altar, during the Mass, that the “miracle” on which it is based occurs. our faith in the true, real and “substantial” presence of the Risen Christ: “The solemnity we are celebrating – said Ghizzoni on that occasion – it connects and enhances all our Masses. In addition to confirming a dogmatic statement, it has an educational purpose: it wants to remind us of the greatness of the miracle that happens every time. Even in the simplest and most weekday Masses, the Eucharist is that thanksgiving to the Father, through the Son Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit who is the source and summit of the whole life of the Church and of every Christian”.
