CATANIA – Two hundred and eight years of imprisonment For 26 defendantswith penalties ranging between three years and eight months And 16 years and four monthsand two acquittals.






It is the sentence of the trial born from the operation Kynara from the Catania flying squad issued, with the abbreviated procedure, by the investigating judge Pietro Curròwho accepted the prosecutor’s requests Tiziana Laudani.

The proceedings hinged on the police investigation which culminated in the December 15, 2022in the arrest of 31 people, some of whom were believed to be affiliated with Cappello-Bonaccorsi claninvestigated in various capacities for mafia association, criminal association aimed at trafficking and dealing in narcotic substances, carrying and possession of a firearm.

Couriers from Calabria to Sicily

From the investigations of the police headquarters’ flying squad it emerged that every two weeks couriers they sent 15-20 kilograms of cocaine from Calabria to Sicily which was distributed in Catania and other provinces of the island as a result of a joint ventures between Calabrian gangs And Michele Vinciguerra.

The 45-year-old Vinciguerra, head of a branch of the Cappello-Bonaccorsi mafia clan who, after his release, inApril 2021would have dedicated himself to cocaine trafficking.

The man then decided to collaborate with the justice system and was sentenced, in continuation with previous sentences and taking into account the alternative rite, to 16 years and four months in prison.

Among the most prominent convictions stand out those a 15 years and four months each a Giacomo Ravasco And Saverio Zoccoli. The judge acquitted him for not having committed the crime Luigi Cipolla And Delio Santillo.
