A SUMMER FULL OF MUSIC IN CARRARA – Antenna 3

Simone Cristicchi and Amara, Mauro Pagani, Tommaso Novi, Maurizio Fabrizio are some of the protagonists of themusical summer of Carrara. Off we go from Friday 14 June the billboard that pays homage to some of the authors who have characterized the history of Italian music. A program of concerts that will accompany spectators until August 30th, the result of the collaboration between thethe Municipality of Carrara and the Onlus Toscana Spettacolo Foundation.

The program

To open the billboard, Friday 14 June (7pm)the traveling exhibition through the streets of Historic center of the Rusty Brass Band. From valleys to plains, from lakes to cities, with their sweet melodies the Rusty Brass enchant concert halls, cheer up the most social occasions and liven up city streets. From ‘Rusty’, “rusty”, and ‘Brass’, literally “arm”, the experience of this brass band begins, which focuses its attention on funk and rock rhythms, while not disdaining Balkan and exotic sounds. From Louis Armstrong’s New Orleans to Boban Markovic’s Guca, from the Bavaria of the Oktoberfest to the Mexico City of the mariachis. The Rusty Brass Band was selected as part of the 2023 edition of the Glocal Sound project – Young author’s music on the circuit.

Friday 21 June (9.30 pm) Mauro Pagani arrives on the stage in Piazza XXVII Aprile with Crêuza de Mä, homage to Fabrizio De André. Forty years have passed since the publication of the album Crêuza de Mä, written by Fabrizio De André and Mauro Pagani. Mauro decided to set sail on a new adventure, accompanied, this time, by a crew of 6 musicians, a chorister and a backing vocalist, to re-propose the enveloping sounds, timeless and spaceless, narrated in the album Crêuza de Mä. To crown this musical journey there will be no shortage of songs from his well-known and appreciated repertoire, the result of over fifty years of career.

Saturday 29 June (9.30 pm), in Piazza XXVII Aprile, Simone Cristicchi and Amara tackled Franco Battiato’s repertoire in TORNEREMO ANCORA. A musical journey in search of the essence in the confusion of modernity, a mystical and sensual rapture, much needed in this time in which we live. It’s Torneramo anchor – mystical concert for Battiato, the new and extraordinary project by Simone Cristicchi and Amara. An opportunity to rediscover a precious legacy, in a brand new guise arranged by maestro Valter Sivilotti. On stage, the two artists are accompanied by Valter Sivilotti himself on the piano and the soloists from the Naonis Academy of Pordenone (Lucia Clonfero, Igor Dario, Alan Dario, UT Gandhi, Franca Drioli). The performance of the pieces alternates with some readings taken from the masters who influenced Battiato’s thought: Rumi, Gurdjieff, Ramana Maharshi, Willigis Jager and the theologian Guidalberto Bormolini.

Thursday 11 July (9.30 pm), in Piazza Menconi in Marina di Carrara it’s time for the Vocal Blue Trains concert. Vocal Blue Trains are a polyphonic vocal group, founded and directed by Alessandro Gerini. A multifaceted reality that marries the choral imprint of gospel and traditional polyphony with the modern sounds of electronic music and ambient house. They have attracted national and international attention thanks to over 150 concerts and major collaborations.

On the Music Stage in Piazza Gramsci, Saturday 27 July (9.30 pm) Formula 3 arrives for an evening dedicated to Lucio Battisti. Band founded in ’69 by Gabriele Lorenzi, current leader of the group, was the historic group of Lucio Battisti. He has participated in the Sanremo Festival twice, in 1971 and 1992. Among the band’s greatest successes are Eppur mi son scorda di te, Mi ordini in mente and Folle sentimentale. Gabriele Lorenzi and his Formula Three represent a piece of Italian music history. The current lineup is made up of Gabriele Lorenzi (keyboard and vocals), Andrea Roventini (drums), Terry Horn (guitar and vocals), Cinzia Favilla (vocals) and Matteo Bonti (bass and vocals).

The program continues Saturday 24 August (9.30 pm, Music Stage in Piazza Gramsci) with Tommaso Novi which presents WHISTLING THE STORY OF MY LIFE. Tommaso Novi was born in Pisa on 13 July 1979. Composer, musician and music therapist, he trained in piano and composition. He holds a chair of Musical Whistle (the only official one in Europe) at the G. Bonamici school in Pisa. With the group I Gatti Mézzi, he created six record productions, more than 700 concerts, a tour in Canada, concerts in Paris and Brussels. He won, among others, a Ciampi Award and a Barezzi Award. He has collaborated with Dario Fo, Paolo Fresu, Stefano Bollani, Gipi, Ascanio Celestini, Bandabardò, Bobo Rondelli and The Zen Circus.

Last event on the bill, Friday 30 August (9.30 pm): on the Music Stage in Piazza Gramsci it’s Maurizio Fabrizio’s time with THE ART OF THE MEETING. The art of meeting was born from the intention of bringing order to the long professional career of Maurizio Fabrizio, one of the most prolific and appreciated Italian composers, author of timeless songs performed by the most well-known artists of Italian and international pop music. The art of meeting is an expression borrowed from the Brazilian poet Vinicius De Moraes, which summarizes the meaning of Maurizio Fabrizio’s music, always the result of important collaborations. On stage, accompanying the artist, the actress and singer Katia Astarita, who conceived and wrote the show, intercepting the author’s desire to retrace the most significant stages of his musical journey and to communicate the profound reasons for his composition .
