Interviewed by today’s edition of The Republicthe former Milan defender Kakhaber Kaladze he spoke about his past as a player: “But my second career is a success thanks to football and Italy, which welcomed me and shaped me as a man. I have fantastic memories of the two Champions Leagues won with Milan and I am always very attached to the your country. The Azzurri are my second favorite team, I also support them at the European Championships.
For the country it is a date that will never be forgotten. It is the first time in the history of independent Georgia and it is a dream come true. I still regret not having been able to participate in a World Cup or a European Championship as a footballer. But today I am very happy. The Tbilisi party? The whole country has taken to the streets, but now we look ahead. Getting to the European Championships is not a goal and we are not satisfied just for this. We are convinced that we will get through the group and our chances are real, we have young and strong players.
Football promotional vehicle for Georgia? Of course yes. I am very happy that Georgian footballers are successfully competing in Europe at clubs and the national team. From Kvaratskhelia to Mamardashvili, they have proven to be high class.”
