Torre del Greco – Holy Night of the Immaculate Conception, weekend of events in the city
On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June, Torre del Greco will once again be a protagonist between devotion and art with the Sacred Night of the Immaculate Conception, an event organized by the Torre del Greco Sacred Night Committee on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the coronation of the statue of the Immaculate Conception, which took place in 1954.
On the first day, the choirs of the parishes of Santa Maria del Principio, Santa Maria di Portosalvo, Santissima Annunziata, Madonna delle Grazie, Santa Maria del Carmine and the Basilica of Santa Croce will be the protagonists, performing concerts with Marian songs in their respective places of worship, at starting from 8.30 pm. They will then pay homage to the Immaculate Conception in the Basilica. At 10.30pm, in Piazza Santa Croce, an unprecedented and spectacular videomapping show dedicated to the Immaculate Conception will be performed.
On Sunday at 5pm we will start with the Holy Mass presided over by Monsignor Gaetano Castello, auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Naples which will be followed by the most awaited event, the solemn exposition of the Sacred image of the Immaculate Conception in Piazza Santa Croce, the culminating moment of this weekend, followed by a prayer vigil presided over by His Excellency Monsignor Domenico Battaglia, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Diocese of Naples.
The photographic exhibition will be open throughout the weekend at the Committee headquarters in via Salvator Noto, with historical photos of the previous editions of Notte Sacra Torre del Greco taken by photographers from Torre del Gatto, Antonio Del Gatto, Francesco Sangiovanni, Antonio Camerlingo, Pasquale D’ Orsi, Kappaesse Produzioni.
