06/17/2024 VICENZA – The monumental tree that risked being cut down by the Tav construction sites could be saved. || The centuries-old tree present in the green area of the former Lanerossi – threatened by the arrival of the TAV – could be saved: if it met the characteristics to be included in the list of monumental trees. This was announced by the Mayor, on the occasion of the meeting of the table for environmental monitoring of the interventions planned for the construction of the TAV, convened by the Region. This would be a first step in a broader objective: that of narrowing the construction site area, to save a further portion of greenery in the former Lanerossi area. According to the final project, of the 16,000 m2 subject to expropriation – explained the Mayor – 4,000 m2 are used to carry out works while 12,000 m2 are initially intended as a construction site, to then be handed over to the city at the end of the intervention in good shape of public park, once the replanting has been completed. The meeting had the objective of presenting the monitoring plan by Iricav, verifying the initial results and the evaluation of the compensation plan. The table will remain the forum for discussing the progress of the works and the situations that may cause environmental impacts.
