Calm returns between Chiara Frontini and Uil in the setting of Piazza del Plebiscito, where yesterday the union demonstrated against some of the phrases said at the dinner on 26 September at the home of city councilor Marco Bruzziches who recorded them and brought them to the Prosecutor’s Office. An event which gave rise to the accusation of “threats to a competing political body” against Frontini and her husband Fabio Cavini, who was also at dinner.
The story
Preliminary hearing set for November 21st. In the meantime, however, the phrases disclosed are making the rounds around the city, overheating the climate. “That idiot Giancarlo Turchetti from Uil”, and then, “50% of that human material there has to be thrown away, and we can’t do anything about it” said Frontini at that dinner for municipal employees.

Uil in the square
Turchetti showed up in the square yesterday to await the mayor’s apology, complete with a shirt bearing the words: “Proudly an idiot in defense of workers”. “Saying I’m sorry doesn’t mean apologizing,” said the provincial manager of the UIl, while the regional manager, Alberto Civica, added: “This represents the degradation of politics, denigrating rather than addressing the topics. If the mayor believes that there is such a lack of professionalism within the Municipality, then she must confront the unions.”
The comparison
Face to face which took place a few seconds later with the arrival of Frontini: “I am not afraid of confrontation, I have come among you to listen and respond”. Turchetti did not have to be told twice, quoting the offending phrases. Which Frontini did not deny: “We have clarified on the personnel. There are pockets of inefficiency that need to be identified, I hope that the union will support the improvement of the evaluation system. I’m sorry if anyone felt offended, that wasn’t the intent. It all started in a private context, then became public, but it must be contextualized.”
Peace between Uil and the mayor
Regarding Turchetti being called a “jerk”, the mayor explained “There was an interview given regarding the historic centre. I called you immediately, saying that I didn’t like it, it was a gratuitous attack on the administration which is making a lot of efforts. You yourself told me that it was exacerbated in the concepts.”
