Wild stop in court: a flurry of fines is issued – L’Aquila

SULMONA. Rain of fines in the Sulmona court area where the local police officers, coordinated by the commander-manager, Domenico Giannetta, the other day they raised around thirty fines in the space of a couple of hours, with the aim of putting a stop to wild parking, a phenomenon that can be seen first-hand both in the historic center and in the most populous neighborhoods of the city. Most of the fines, which range from 42 to 173 euros, were issued to motorists who parked in the timed parking area, without using the parking disc or in any case without indicating the time of arrival. In truth, more than one administrative fine has been imposed because the new parking meters, replaced in recent weeks, do not allow payment by credit card. “I didn’t have any coins and I tried to pay with a credit card but the parking meter wouldn’t let me because it still didn’t work with electronic money,” says a fined lawyer. «I entered the court where I stayed for 10 minutes and upon exiting I found the fine. Naturally I will appeal to the justice of the peace even if it means wasting time and money.” «Currently we do not have the data to configure the pos that must be provided to us by the Municipality», underlines Satic who deals with the management of the parking meters.
