Sailing | 1st Optimist Zonal Selection: Emma Librandi and Lorenzo Trocino triumph in Crotone

The 1st Zonal Selection of the Optimist class took place on Sunday 16 June, organized by LNI Crotone in collaboration with the Yachting Kroton Club and Maresport, under the aegis of the Italian Sailing Federation VI Calabria-Basilicata Zone.

The race was held in the body of water in front of the city of Crotone.

In total, 22 promising young sailing stars from Calabria from the clubs: Circolo Velico Reggio Calabria participated in the zonal selection. Made in Med Community and Club Velico Crotone.

Two tests were carried out, characterized by an erratic wind, sometimes absent, sometimes with gusts.

The young athletes competed in two Divisions (A and B):

For division A: Brilliant performance by Emma Librandi of the Crotone Velico Club who took 1st position followed by Ruben Soda of the same club, in third place was Anita Valentina Colella of the Reggio Calabria Velico Club.

For division B, Lorenzo Trocino from the Crotone Velico Club came in first place, Bianca Barilà Iero from the Made in Med Community ASD club came in 2nd place and Giorgio Paonessa from the Crotone Velico Club came in 3rd place.

In the evening, the awards ceremony was held on the terrace of the Naval League of Crotone by the Sports Councilor Marco Zumpano who brought greetings from the president Gianni Liotti.

The FIV National Councilor Fabio Colella, present at the event, thanked everyone for their collaboration and for the success of the event, in particular the president of the Regatta Committee Domenico Pugliatti and the president of the Jury Giacinto Tesoriere and Massimo Racco for rule 42, and has given an appointment to all the participants for the 6th of July in Reggio Calabria at the Circolo Velico Reggio for the 2nd zonal selection.
