A new operational headquarters for territorial security
Inaugurated and already operational, the Rende provincial fire brigade detachment.
An investment by the Municipality of Rende, which led to the creation of a barracks capable of being active 24 hours a day and of promptly intervening in ordinary and emergency situations, managing to serve a vast territory of the Crati Valley.
The Detachment can rely on a staff of 33 units, guaranteeing the 24-hour presence of an operational emergency team, equipped with various emergency vehicles. A detachment created thanks to the strong understanding between the Municipality and the Fire Brigade, which led to the construction of a safe structure located in a strategic point not far from State Road 107 and the motorway.
The ceremony was attended by the undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior – Hon. Wanda FERRO, the Head of the Fire Brigade Department – Prefect Dr. Renato FRANCESCHELLI, the Chief of the Fire Brigade – Eng. Carlo DALL’OPPIO, the Prefect of Cosenza – Dr. Vittoria CIA-RAMELLA, the Regional Director of the Fire Brigade. Calabria – Eng. Maurizio LUCIA, the Commander of the Fire Brigade. of Cosenza – Eng. Giampiero RIZZO, the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Municipality of Rende – Prefect Dr. Santi GIUFFRE’.
The Regional Director of the Fire Brigade of Calabria, Eng. Maurizio LUCIA and the Commander of the Cosenza Fire Brigade, Eng. Giampiero RIZZOduring the individual interventions they illustrated the important contribution that the detachment provides to the management of rescue in the province, underlining the degree of operation on a densely populated territory, and crossed by important arteries such as the A2 motorway and the State road 107, and the presence of important industrial entities, in the various municipalities covered by the detachment, also at “risk of a major accident”.
“Having a new extremely functional operational headquarters, up to the professionalism of the Fire Brigade and located in an ideal position from a logistical point of view, is of primary importance for the entire territory – said the Undersecretary of State Hon. Wanda FERRO – The Fire Brigade represents an essential safeguard for public and private safety, in particular during calamitous events but not only”.
Appreciation for the new headquarters was also shared by the Head of the Prefect Fire Department Renato FRANCESCHELLI, and by the Chief of the National Fire Brigade, Eng. Carlo DALL’OPPIO.
The Prefect of Cosenza, Dr. Vittoria CIARAMELLA, underlined the important and essential relationship of synergy between the Prefecture and the “fire brigade”.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with the cutting of the ribbon, preceded by the blessing of the headquarters, the staff and the emergency vehicles by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cosenza-Bisignano – SER Mons. Giovanni CHECCHINATO.
The photo-documentary exhibition “The Fire Brigade of the Province of Cosenza: yesterday, today and tomorrow” was set up inside the headquarters of the Detachment.
