An Inclusive Event in Alessandria. Supercars, art and solidarity for young people with disabilities (Alessandria today)

On Sunday, June 23, 2024, Alexandria hosted a special event titled “In the Square for a Dream”, transforming Piazza Garibaldi into a place of meeting and joy for over ninety supercars and around eighty young people with disabilities. This inclusive event, promoted by the Porsche North West Group and the Castelpiovera Cultural Association, was conceived by the President of the Group, Sergio Basile, and the President of the Association, Alessandro Calvi di Bergolo, with the aim of bringing the community closer together and bringing happiness to children and young people with disabilities through their passion for sports cars and art.

A Day of Emotions: The day began with the arrival of the supercars, coming from different parts of northern Italy, which captured the attention and enthusiasm of those present. The young guests had the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience with a panoramic tour through the streets of the center of Alessandria and the hills of Castelletto Monferrato.

Support for the Children’s Hospital: The event also had a strong solidarity component, confirming the support of the last three years for the city’s children’s hospital. Thanks to the fundraising, which continues under the guidance of the head physician Alessio Pini Prato, the objective is the purchase of an important and expensive laser instrument which will further improve the quality of care offered to young patients. The event’s sponsors, both participants and local entrepreneurs, contributed generously, and three companies were rewarded with works of art created by Count Niccolò Calvi di Bergolo.

Participation and Support: The event saw the collaboration and patronage of the Municipality of Alessandria, with particular support from the Traffic Police and the Municipal Police. Also present were the State Police School, the Castellazzo Soccorso Alpini and numerous volunteers who, together with the families of the little guests and the authorities, animated the square with professionalism and sensitivity.

Institutional Interventions: Among the participants, the Deputy Mayor of the City, Marica Barrera, and the Councilor for Commerce, Giovanni Berrone, welcomed the young guests and motoring enthusiasts from the early hours of the morning. The event ended with a final farewell from the red bus, with speeches by the Deputy Mayor Barrera, the Councilor for Social Policies Giorgio Laguzzi, the Mayor of Castelletto Monferrato Gianluca Colletti, the head physician Alessio Pini Prato, the doctor Giulia Mottadelli, and the presidents Sergio Basile and Alessandro Calvi di Bergolo.

Conclusions: “In Piazza per un Sogno” was an extraordinary event that combined passion, art and solidarity in a single day, giving unforgettable emotions to young people with disabilities and strengthening the sense of community. This event demonstrated once again how collective commitment can make a difference and bring joy and hope.
