Turin – Saved by the kidney transported by the Lamborghini Huracan

The splendid Turin salon in Piazza San Carlo welcomed the caravan made up of over 400 historic cars participating in the prestigious Mille Miglia event.

The parade was opened by State Police cars and motorbikes, including the Lamborghini Huracan supplied to the Bologna Traffic Police Department, which then stopped for a few hours inside the square.

The fireball, as is known, in addition to being used for operational activities, is also used for emergency organ transport, as part of the national Cross-Over program.

This is thanks to a protocol signed in recent years between the State Police and the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, National Transplant Center, which coordinates and manages all national transplant programs.

Through the Lamborghini Huracan, whose front trunk houses special cool box equipment for the urgent transport of organs for transplants, this service is ensured in case of need and urgency.

This is what happened, for example, in February 2023, when a patrol of the Bologna Traffic Police department aboard the “supercar”, covering a distance of over 700 km in less than 5 hours, transported a kidney from the San Salvatore de L’Aquila to the Molinette hospital in Turin, where a 57-year-old woman was waiting to receive him to undergo the life-saving transplant.

As soon as the operation was carried out, the organ immediately began to work, resuming its functionality in the best possible way, with great benefits for the patient, who had been suffering from chronic renal failure for several years now. As chance would have it, yesterday afternoon Francesco, the husband of the receiving woman, was passing by Piazza San Carlo on his bicycle and, immediately noticing the racing car donated by Lamborghini to the State Police, he couldn’t help but stop to once again thank the police personnel for the life-saving intervention carried out last year.

Francesco informed us of his wife’s good health and made us take a photograph together with the Turin police commissioner Ciarambino and the policeman who drove the Huracan.
