Progress in the extension of the M5 metro line. With the unanimous approval of the latest project proposal by the Cinisello Balsamo Municipal Council, the process for the extension of the lilac line to Monza continues, involving the Municipalities of Milan, Sesto San Giovanni, Monza and Cinisello Balm. The latter, in particular, will be affected by the creation of four stops: Testi-Gorky; Rondinella-Crocetta; Lincoln and Bettola, where there will be the interchange with the extension of the M1.
An entirely underground route that will bring the subway into the heart of the North Milanese municipality, simultaneously serving the productive part of the city and the residential one: “The Lincoln stop, introduced in the project variant, will be a real “urban door” giving accessibility and making our territory accessible to local users as supra-municipal – explained the councilor for the territorial government, Fabrizia Berneschi -. The shared improvements are indispensable elements that allow Cinisello Balsamo not to be a municipality of crossing and connection but a real strategic point, a fundamental stage of the journey”.
In addition to the discussion on the adaptation of the current municipal urban planning which also concerns the important definition of constraints, the authorization to the PAUR procedure of the Lombardy Region, i.e. the Single Regional Authorization Provision with which the project receives all the green lights necessary to proceed with construction: “Now it is necessary to adapt the PGT by untying the bureaucratic knots and the points unresolved by the previous Administrations, resolving the critical issues that this imposing work can bring to the territory – commented Mayor Giacomo Ghilardi -. A set of synergistic actions so that the realization has a positive impact for the city”.
A further step towards what will be one of the most strategically significant interventions for Cinisello Balsamo. And with the OK to PAUR and the positive opinion of the Services Conference, the table that brings together all the bodies participating in the project to extend the M5 up to the north of Monza, on the final draft, we arrive at the final phase before the tender contract.
