47th edition of the Pistoia – Abetone, ready for the challenge. It runs on Sunday 30 June, here is the medal from the designer of “Zagor”
A few more days of waiting and on Sunday 30 June, the most fascinating ULTRA MARATHON in the world returns. Starting at 7.30 am from Piazza del Duomo in Pistoia and arriving at the finish line in Abetone after 50 km, of which 31 km are uphill with a difference in altitude of 1300 metres. This is not just a race, but a challenge with yourself. A long journey on a path where the head counts more than the legs, where the will overcomes the effort and the heart rises higher and higher, like the road. A challenge also for the less daring, registered for the 30 km that will arrive in San Marcello, from here the walk of the last 20 km towards the summit of Abetone, the Freewalking, will also begin.
For trekking lovers, here is the “night time” proposal to experience a unique emotion in conquering the summit starting from the Portafranca refuge. To finish the fourth finish line, the special 3 km stage starting from Le Regine and arriving in the square of Abetone, a walk dedicated to disabled athletes. An event of solidarity and active inclusion, which has always been inspired by its birth way back in 2003 and today an emblem of the event.
The sketch of the medal has been revealed in recent days, designed by the Pescia-based cartoonist Marcello Mangiantini, a designer for Sergio Bonelli Editore and in particular on Zagor’s staff.
The expo also returns, on Saturday 29th from 9.30am to 8pm, in the historic premises of the “Cathedral”, located in the former San Giorgio area, a few steps from the railway station. Here it will be possible to collect your bib and receive valuable technical advice from exhibitors such as Hoka, experts in footwear and technical clothing, EthicSport, integration experts and other experts in the running sector. To complete the picture of the main sponsors, the Prato and Lucca sports shop Il Campione, Beyfin which has always been close to sport and the Chianti Banca BCC together with many others who will certainly not fail to be involved and contribute to the event.
