Palermo – Cristian Desimone from Gelato, volunteer of the Italian Red Cross Committee, has been elected Regional Vice President and Youth Representative of the Italian Red Cross in Sicily.
The consultations took place on Sunday 16 June at the headquarters of the CRI Sicily Regional Committee, in Palermo.
for the elections of the new Regional Board of Directors.

The Presidents and Councilors Representatives of the Youth of the 38 Sicilian Committees were asked to choose
their new Regional Governance.
Cristian Desimone, 27 years old, from Mazzarino lives and works in Gela (CL) where he carries out his profession as a nurse

Desimone began his journey with the Italian Red Cross in 2013. Since then, he has dedicated time and energy to
development and management of the Youth of the Gela Committee, acquiring numerous qualifications and contributing
actively contribute to the growth of the Association.

In 2020, he was elected Councilor and Youth Representative
of the Gela Committee, also covering the role of Vice President.

Together with Cristian the following were elected:
Regional President: Stefano Principato of the Catania Committee;
Regional Councilor: Egidio Tuccio of the Tirreno Nebrodi Committee;
Regional Councilor: Giusy Quartararo of the Palermo Committee;
Regional Councilor: Francesco Messina of the Syracuse Committee.
His electoral program, entitled “Relationships and Shared Paths”, focuses on:

Participation: Promote Active Listening and create moments of shared participation for all young people
of the Sicilian Committees.

Transparent and Shared Governance: Ensuring inclusive governance that empowers young people to be
active part in decision-making processes.

Youth Support Team: Create a strong and prepared team of Regional Representatives, led by a
Regional Coordinator of Youth Activities.

Training: Encourage and support the training of young volunteers through level II and III courses e
regional training camps.

Planning: Support the Territorial Committees in drafting projects to participate in tenders
competition/competition at regional and national level.

Innovation Lab: Create an innovation laboratory to stimulate creativity and encourage the exchange of ideas and
best practices.
