The most important project of the Trieste Port System Authority financed by the complementary fund to the Pnrr with 180 million euros has received the environmental green light.
8 months after the start of the procedure, the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has in fact “expressed a positive opinion on the environmental compatibility of the project for the extension of the common infrastructures for the development of the New Free Point in the Port of Trieste. File A Adspmao project N .1951, favorable opinion regarding the absence of negative and significant impact on Natura 2000 sites on the basis of the Level I impact assessment without the need for further investigation, and favorable opinion regarding the preliminary plan for the management of excavated earth and rocks introduced”.
These essentially involve the works on the land side necessary for the future construction project of the new Pier VIII (partially financed by other public resources and recently presented to Mase for a similar environmental procedure): the reclamation of the land areas that were part of the Ironworks (Messa permanent safety of the areas subject to public intervention), the construction of the Nuova Servola commercial railway station (heart of the intervention, made up of 10 tracks with a useful length of 750 metres), motorway and road connections (connection to the GVT and other road works ); public buildings functional to the Port of Trieste (including customs buildings and the border control point).
The opinion was issued with various requirements by the Ministry of Culture (4), the Ministry of the Environment itself (11) and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region (5), largely to be complied with beforehand.
