The 8th edition of the Viterbo Biennial of Contemporary Art is underway

Environment, beauty, inclusion and contamination between Italy and Brazil among the key themes

VITERBO – Art, beauty, inclusion, equal opportunities, youth policies, sustainability, environment: these and others are the key themes on which the 8th edition of the Viterbo Biennial of Contemporary Artwhich also welcomes the 1st International Brazil-Italy Matchto respond to the objectives of the New European Bauhaus of which APAI Association for the Promotion of the Arts in Italy and Viterbo Biennial, founded and curated by Laura Lucibello, have been official partners since February 2024; an initiative that puts creativity at the service of sustainability, beauty and inclusion.

The Biennial projectthrough the Arts at 360°, is aimed at promoting awareness of languages in the cultural and social environment through creativity, research and interculturality, for create an international network of innovation and diplomacy on fair and sustainable human heritage which is based on the following elements:

recognize e Respect the enviroment;

reconnect the communities with their habitat and forms of ecological inheritanceaesthetic, and cultural, for the creation of innovative ideas oriented towards global citizenship;

renew them practices, promote active participation and protagonism, enhancing skills and creativity also of new generations and new technologies, involving, with the Emerging Art Academy Award, young artists in innovative and experiential artistic interventions;

build a ‘attractive and vital territory’reducing the rate of mistrust and giving meaning, identity and value back to the younger generations.

A ‘hybrid ecosystem’ where numerous local and international artists present theirs works and performancesalso in the context of theatrical and performance shows, artist residencies and studio-visualsit in ateliers, galleries, parks and artistic gardens.

1st International Meeting of Contemporary Art Brazil-Italy is a project by the curator Andrea Isabel Lotto, whose objectives are:

promote learning and cultural exchange between Brazilians and Italianshighlighting history between past-present-future, through conferences and art exhibitions on the chosen theme;

list the main paths that converge between Brazilian and Italian artists;

from contemporary theory to artistic production: what are the main difficulties faced today;

debate on artistic production of women and their challenges;

stimulate debate on the true interests of contemporary art based on the desire for the existence of relationships between history, society and culture.

Furthermore, we would like to remind you that this year it was celebrated in Brazil the “Italian Immigrant Day” on February 21sta date which in fact recalls the day in 1874 in which the first group of 386 Italian workers with their families arrived in the American country aboard the steamship Sofia.
