Genoa Primavera, Agostini moves to Pontedera. Championship will move to 20 teams

Genoa Primavera will plan for next season collecting the legacy of an Under 18 fresh winner of the Scudetto. There will be many changes, starting from the fact that the technical guidance will change and that there will also be a changing of the guard at the sports management level with the farewell of Carlo Taldo.

The now ex-technician Alexander Augustinesafter two seasons culminating with promotion to Primavera 1 and only narrowly reaching the playoffs this season, he officially settled in Pontedera. Agostini’s work had implications for what we saw in the final stages of the Under 18s, because his work and that of his staff gave additional tools to grow to players who later achieved decisive results in Ancona such as Ekhator, Venturino, Ahanor and Roman.

Waiting to find out who the new technician will be, there will be no shortage of innovations in terms of formats. This year, in fact, the peculiarity of a championship that has provided for only one relegation has not been overlooked. An exception motivated by the fact that next year, as decided in May 2023 by the Federal Councilthe Primavera 1 Championship will go from 18 to 20 teams (with three relegations) and, above all, it will no longer be open to the Under 19 category, but will be expanded to the Under 20 category. The possible presence of over-quotas will be at the discretion of the individual leaguesin the specific case of Primavera 1 the decision will be up to the Lega Serie A.

In any case, we are talking about an extra year which will make a big difference, given that the format will be open to class of 2005 and will be close in age, physicality and technical content to professional championships such as Serie C. It should be remembered that Genoa had already tested many players born in 2006 this year, therefore under-age, in the Primavera 1 championship: from Venturino to Ekhatorfrom Barbini to Roman. Without forgetting Ahanorwho is actually born in 2008.

Here are the twenty teams participating in the next championship: SassuoloAtalanta, Bologna, CagliariCesena, Cremonese, Empoli, Fiorentina, GenoaHellas Verona, Inter, Juventus, Lazio, Lecce, Milan, Monza, Rome, Sampdoria, Turin, Udinese.
