The Cerignola City Council has approved, on the proposal of the Equal Opportunities councilor, Domenico Dagnelli, the regulation of the Municipal Council for Equality and Equal Opportunities. The Consulta presents itself as an essential tool to promote and guarantee effective gender equality, in line with the principles established by Article 3 of the Italian Constitution. It will also have the task of carefully monitoring to remove any form of discrimination present in the city area and promoting constant and vital dialogue with local associations, ensuring that the voices of the different communities are heard and integrated into municipal policies. This ongoing dialogue will allow the Council to develop a deep understanding of the specific needs and challenges faced by citizens.
With regards to the elimination of gender disparities, the Council will undertake to develop and promote concrete action plans, which will aim to promote inclusion in every working and social sphere, contributing to the construction of a more equitable and inclusive society. It will be essential to identify and remove barriers that hinder gender equality, providing adequate support and tools to ensure that women can fully participate in the economic, social and cultural life of the community. This decision represents a significant step towards promoting gender equality and fighting discrimination in our territory. Councilor Dagnelli added: “The Consulta will be the point of reference for addressing issues related to equal opportunities. We are ready to collaborate with all the associations in the city to ensure that equal opportunities do not remain just a principle, but become a tangible reality”.
