Salerno Literature, the program for tomorrow 18 June

At 11, in the conference room of building D3, third floor, of the University of Salerno, the day will begin with “CLASSIC NATURE AND CULTURE BETWEEN ANCIENT AND MODERN”. This event is organized by DipSUm in collaboration with the SalernoLetteratura Festival.

Welcoming will be Carmine Pinto, Director of the Department of Humanistic Studies (DipSUm), Angelo Meriani, Third Mission Delegate, and Daria Limatola of the SalernoLetteratura Festival. Presented by Giovanna Pace, Stefano Amendola, Nicola Lanzarone. Authors such as Mario Lentano, Michele Napolitano and Anna Maria Urso will speak, with the aim of activating a virtuous circle between academic research and demand for culture.

Afternoon seminars

The seminar “READING SCHOOL: DO YOU REMEMBER PASCOLI’S POEMS?” will be held at the State Archives at 5pm. with Giuseppe Grattacaso, author of “A new happiness. Rediscovering Pascoli’s poetry” (Treccani). This event is an invitation to rediscover the poetry of Giovanni Pascoli, highlighting his extraordinary capacity for innovation. At 6pm, in the Addolorata church, “CLASSICS NEEDS MEASURE: EVEN TO GET DRUNK” will be the theme of the meeting with Michele Napolitano, author of “The Greeks, the Romans and… the symposium” (Carocci). A fascinating investigation into Greek and Roman cultures through the ritual of the symposium. Anna Maria Urso, Mario Lentano and Angelo Meriani lead.

Evening meetings

At 6.30 pm at Palazzo Fruscione there will be “CLASSICA ASK ME WHO WAS SARAH KANE”, a meeting with Roberto D’Avascio, curator of “I’m much fucking angrier than you think. Sarah Kane’s theater twenty years later” (UniorPress). This meeting offers an in-depth look at Sarah Kane’s theatre, analyzing issues such as her autobiography in her plays and the feminist debate. At 7pm, in the Matteotti space, “CHILDREN’S SPACE: GIOVANNI FALCONE, BAMBINO” will take place. Angelo Di Liberto, author of “Giovanni’s Courage” (Gallucci), will talk about the young Giovanni Falcone and the lessons of courage that he learned in his childhood. He leads Francesco Cicale.

Last Events of the Day

At 7.15pm at the Diocesan Museum, Gabriel Zuchtriegel will present “CLASSICA A VERY VITAL DEAD CITY”, telling of his adventures in Pompeii and the lessons we can draw from the ancient city. Conducted by Gennaro Carillo. At the same time, in the Addolorata church, Mario Lentano will hold the meeting “A TREE IS NOT JUST A TREE”, exploring the cultural life of trees in ancient Rome. Michele Napolitano, Anna Maria Urso and Enrico Ariemma lead. Finally, at 8pm at Palazzo Fruscione, we will talk about “VERIFICATION OF POWERS / JUSTICE THE WAR OF THE WORLDS” with Marcello Flores and Mimmo Franzinelli, authors of “Conflict between powers. Judiciary, politics and trials in republican Italy” (Il Saggiatore). This event, hosted by Mario Ricciardi, will explore the complex relationship between politics, judiciary and civil society in Italy.
