We will talk about this with exhibitors, sector experts and institutions at the second regional conference, organized by Anec Sicilia, Sala cinematographic, what future? Perspectives and proposals, which will be held on Wednesday 19 June, starting from 9.30 am, at Palazzo dei Normanni in the Mattarella room.
After the institutional greetings from Gaetano Galvagno, president of Ars Sicilia, Mario Lorini, national president of Anec, Francesco Giambrone, national president of Agis, Paolo Signorelli, national president of Anec Sicilia and Egidio Bernava Morante, regional president of Agis, the numbers will be revealed (spectators and takings ) of Sicilian cinemas with Rosario Drago, film entrepreneur.
Focus on cinemas and Film Commissions
After the focus on the cinema and Film Commission, with the proposal of regional reimbursement on tickets, with the exhibitor Sino Accursio Caracappa and Nicola Tarantino, director of the Sicilia Film Commission, we will focus on the relationship between cinema and disability and between cinema and school, with Giuseppe Gambina, of the national Fice and Egidio Bernava Morante, regional president of Agis.
Followed by an in-depth analysis on the amendments in favor of the cinema in the regional budget with Andrea Peria Giaconia, president of Anec Palermo. We will then address the topic of the proposal for a new financing line for cinemas with Rosario Drago and the transfer of tax credit and operating costs, with the involvement of Irfis. The proceedings will be closed by the regional councilor for Tourism, Elvira Amata.
Film sets in Sicily, 73 production companies ready to shoot on the island
Boom in requests to make films and TV series in Sicily. The large film and television production companies choose the island, starting a sort of auction to secure the contributions that the Region has put on the table to finance filming using Sicilian operators and actors.
73 production companies responded to the call published last March 22nd: 50 of these presented projects to make films and TV series, another 21 would like to shoot documentaries and another two short films. The Department of Tourism and Entertainment, led by Elvira Amata, has published the decree which formalizes the requests admitted to the subsequent evaluation phase, kicking off the race for funding.
A second evaluation by the Film Commission will assign a score to each project and decide how to divide the 3 and a half million budget to assign the contributions. The project with the most important investment is the one presented by Bibi Film, the Roman production company that shot the series on the investigations of Commissioner Lolita Lo Bosco: it has production costs of 17 and a half million and has asked for a contribution of 500 thousand euros . Palomar also asked for 500 thousand euros for the new season of Makari.
