Sporting events in safety with the assistance of the Calabria Alpine and Speleological Rescue

During yesterday, Sunday 16 June, two different sporting events took place made use of the assistance service of technicians belonging to Pollino Alpine Station of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue Calabriain order to guarantee prompt intervention along the routes.

It was the tenth edition of the mountain bike race Marathon of the Aragonesedeparted from the “Catasta” tourist hub in the locality Campotenesein the municipality of Morano Calabro. The competitive mountain bike and cyclosportive Gran Fondo included in the Natural Parks Trophy calendar took place along itineraries on the Orsomarso mountains in the Pollino National Park. With around 450 participants coming from all over Italy, the route involved traveling along paths in woods and valleys with decidedly challenging sections.

The second event in Invese was an edition of Triathlon Belvedere from zero to the sky on Sprint distance, in the municipality of Maritime Belvederestarting at 0 meters above sea level, in the beautiful gulf of Cape Tironeand arrive, at an altitude of 1397 meters above sea level, at the small church of the Holy Cross, which stands at the foot of the imposing rock face of Monte La Caccia – in the Pollino National Park -, with a splendid view on the Tyrrhenian coast.

On the two different tracks, the technicians of Cnsa Calabria have sections of the route were manned with emergency vehicles and monitored certain critical points for the safety of participants. During the Aragonese Marathon the technicians are intervened for a cyclist who suffered a significant injury when he fell. No intervention was necessary during the Triathlon race.
