“There are some initiatives of the municipal council, which Ravenna in the municipality has dealt with and worried about in recent days, months and years, which apparently have nothing between them that can unite them. Let’s think about the decision to facilitate in any way the installation of a regasification terminal in front of the tourist beaches of the Ravenna lidos, overturning the opposite decision taken instead by the previous municipal administration. Or the red carpet rolled out in front of ENI and the delirious option of the six-legged dog for the storage of CO2 under our sea with unpredictable costs and impacts due to its colossal size. Or, again, the construction of the doubling of the sports hall right next to the current one, dedicating practically all the funding to sport. But the short-lived Porto Fuori link road could be added with the associated overbuilding of the territory in defiance of the same. And the so-called maritime park which has very little of a park as it cuts down trees, passes through pine forests and uses (also) plastic waste as a background. Without forgetting the transmission tower in the middle of a city park, the “Maria Montessori Garden” a few meters from homes and schools. And the Hamon towers already demolished with the tacit consent of the Mayor and accomplices. As well as the upcoming burial of a notable archaeological find in Classe after the one already found in Piazza Kennedy. Nor should we forget about the turning off of all public lighting with the excuse of honoring a commitment to energy saving at the same time as the green light for an energy-intensive ice skating rink (and it matters little that they canceled the first and the second became annual). And then there are the supermarkets left to pop up like mushrooms after the rain. And the new homes in a municipality where there are already 30 thousand left desolately empty. We could go on almost forever but we believe we have sufficiently conveyed the idea.
If we are already the ones arguing that all of these decisions cannot be reduced to a single thematic category, why put them together and, even a little meticulously, list them one by one? Because they represent the distinctive feature of the two de Pascale Administrations, this one and the previous one, without significant differences. That is, the total, persistent, reiterated disinterest in the will of the citizenry, as a whole or in the different territories, starting from the moment after the polls close and until the next vote. With different gradations, to be honest. Sometimes decisions are made without bothering to consult the inhabitants, it’s true. But on other occasions it gets even worse. The territories are consulted, in the appropriate forms, however lacking, and then do exactly the opposite of what emerged from the democratic exercise. Let’s think for example of the slip road and the overbuilding of Porto Fuori. The Darsena Territorial Council of 11 May 2020 expressed itself negatively regarding its implementation. Even like Ravenna in the Municipality we voted against although foreseeing, as we said then, that when “the City Council is called to say the last word on this project and its verdict, it will most likely overturn the will of the territory”. The prophecy was not difficult and it punctually came true…
Rumors are swirling about a possible early conclusion of the council due to a game of dominoes triggered by Bonaccini’s upcoming resignation following the election to the European Parliament. We don’t have a glass ball through which to observe what the future holds for us. Like Ravenna in the Municipality, however, we can take advantage of past experiences to guess a continuity of this Administration in its careless behavior towards citizens until the last day. We can only wish Ravenna that the wait is short and that we work for a better future for everyone. Certainly without de Pascale & his court the prospects could only improve.”
