Saturday 15 June, the Rugby Bergamo celebrated the end of the season with an event that brought together the whole company, from the little ones to the Old. An opportunity to celebrate the past year and to project ourselves with the right spirit towards new, increasingly ambitious goals. Gathered around 2pm, the entire Rugby Bergamo family was immortalized in a splendid group photo. The over 500 members then moved onto the field, creating a flash mob to create a huge oval together.
Special tournaments then began: “Acchiappami le chiappami”, for children and parents, and “Macedonia”, which saw mixed teams made up of one boy for each category, from the youngest Under to Senior and Old. A unique opportunity to get to know each other, have fun and strengthen bonds within a large group.
«The secret lies in finding a way to connect the various groups, which during the season are divided by age, making them feel like a single family – the new president declared to our microphones Giulio Donati -. These events serve precisely to get to know each other, to become familiar.”
Donati also reiterated the objective of obtaining promotion to Serie A2, not only for the first team but for the entire club. «We have finally declared that we want to make the leap in category, we believe we are ready, except for solving the plant engineering problem. We hope that the current Administration puts its hand on its heart and brings the Utility Field project to completion. We are currently experiencing tense situations: often the pitch is occupied by 80/90 players at the same time and, when bad weather arrives, from a technical point of view the game expires, as well as being unsafe.”
«We want to change the category also with regards to planning – continued the president -. Our club has deep roots in the youth ranks, in the growth of children in the various age groups in the area. We have a franchise that includes five neighboring clubs and which has been working well for years. Next season we will take part in the U18, U16 and U14 championships with a local franchise, in order to train and grow two teams simultaneously on the field: an important enrichment from a technical point of view.”
The day ended with the awards ceremony, followed by a group dinner and a small DJ set. The vice president and sports director, Guillermo Spilotros, highlighted the importance of these parties in cementing the union between the various team groups: «For the kids, they are opportunities to get to know each other, given that they often train at different times and on different days. In the events we organize, we try to create this cohesion among all our members.”
Spilotros then confirmed that the main objective of next season will be to materialize the growth of the club: «We have made important investments with coaches brought here from outside, also focusing on the growth of the coaches who grew up with us. With the first team we aim to move up to Serie A2, so as to also allow all our youth teams to access the elite championships.”
