Marinella di Sarzana (La Spezia), 17 June 2024 – A Sunday morning of fear among the bathers of Marinella of Sarzanawhen it was in the body of water in front of the coast spotted a shark about one and a half meters long, probably one blue shark.
It happened in front of the Odessa plant. The lifeguard immediately made the slope safe, had the swimmers move away from the water and then alerted the men of the Foce del Magra port authority based in Fiumaretta.
The harbor office staff followed the specimen that was being carried out wandering between the cliff in front of the bathing establishment. After a few minutes, the shark then came moved away and everything returned to normal with the swimmers able to calmly return to the water.
A blue shark

It is a shark belonging to the Carcharhinidae family characterized by a slender body, elongated and narrow pectoral fins while the others are short and pointed. The head is pointed, the back is dark blue, while the belly is white. Males can reach 2.82 meters, females too the 3.3 meters.
The blue shark it feeds on fish and squid, although it can sometimes catch even larger catches. It generally lives in deep, temperate and tropical waters. But it also often moves long distances. In the past it was very common to find it in the Mediterranean and Adriatic, but now the number of blue sharks is decreasing.
However, it is nothing new that there are sightings of this type of shark off the coast of the Mediterranean. Last August a blue shark was spotted a few meters from the shore of Marina of Pisa. A month and a half earlier a Livorno one had been sighted Mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) almost three meters long, a rare species in the Mediterranean, captured on video while swimming around a fishing boat.
