Yesterday at the Sporting Club Sassuolo the first day of qualifying for the third “Emilia-Romagna Tennis Cup” took place, an ATP Challenger 125 tournament organized by Master Group Sport in collaboration with the Emilia Romagna Region. The 19-year-old Federico Bondioli, from Ravenna and a member of the Sporting Club Sassuolo, lost after almost three hours of competition against the expert Friulian tennis player Riccardo Bonadio with a score of 76 36 64. Marco Cecchinato got the better of the solid Serbian Nino Serdarusic with a 63 63 gaining access to the second and decisive round of the qualifiers where he will find the Spaniard Jorda Sanchis waiting for him today (winning over Carlo Alberto Caniato with 62 61). Raul Brancaccio in his debut match on central court had to give way (16 36) to the Slovakian Martin Klizan, who will now find the Croatian Luka Mikrut, who eliminated the Italian Luca Castagnola (62 76) without difficulty. In the other Italian derby of the day Alexander Weis beat Gabriele Piraino with a double 6-2. Gianluca Cadenasso lost 64 64 to qualifying No. 1 seed Valentin Royer. Luca Giacomini was overtaken by the Argentine Agustin Gomez (63 63) and Alessandro Giannessi was defeated 76 62 on center court by the American Ryan Seggerman. The main draw kicks off today. Great anticipation for the debut of Fabio Fognini, who will challenge the Frenchman Maxime Janvier on the central court from 8pm.
