Waste management in Ragusa, a disaster: the Democratic Party ‘closed two out of three centers’

“In recent days we have received several reports from citizens of Ragusa who have found the Municipal Collection Centers of Marina di Ragusa and Contrada Nunziata closed, a fact confirmed by an announcement on the Busso company website which explains that the interruption of the service is due to “technical reasons”. Ragusa and in particular those who deal with this sector”. This was reported by city councilors Mario Chiavola and Peppe Calabrese, the latter also city secretary of the Democratic Party.
The two dems add: “What will happen to all the rubbish resulting from garden maintenance, both by domestic users and by companies that deal with gardening? What will happen to the waste from those who empty the cellars as a job or who decides to modernize part of the home furnishings? Especially in Marina di Ragusa where the summer season has just begun and home maintenance is at its busiest” .
“Moreover, apparently – continue the councilors – one of the reasons for the closure of the two centers also concerns the excess of undisposed waste, a situation which also puts the health of the operators of the two centers at risk”.
“The municipal administration should tell us how it intends to operate – they ask – what these maintenance or adaptation works should be completed and how much they would cost. Above all, let us understand why they have not already been planned. Finally – they conclude – the mayor should tell us , given the results one year into the second term, if he also realizes that the Environment Councilor is not capable of managing such a delicate matter, some action should be taken.”
