The intermediate stage of the event will take place on 21 and 22 June in Reggio Calabria Biennial of Proximity 2024an important event held every two years in a different Italian city – this year it’s Naples – which gives voice to the most important experiences of proximity.
By proximity we mean the ability of people and organizations to cooperate together to respond to shared aspirations and needs, acting with reciprocity, in an always open process based on relationships, exchange, participation. Precisely with a view to giving importance to this process, the Biennale has always included events leading up to the national event and Reggio Calabria will be an intermediate stage.
The local promoting committeecomposed of the territorial branches of the national committee – Consorzio Emmanuel, CNCA – National Coordination of the Reception Community, Legacoopsociali and Legambiente – and the Macramè Consortium, organized two days full of events, thanks to the support of the Carical Foundation and with the patronage of the metropolitan city and the Municipality of Reggio Calabria.
The theme chosen for this edition, that of regeneration, has been associated with participation and divided into four macro themes corresponding to four discussion panels which will be dedicated to community development, mutual systems for new models of care, common goods, innovative educational processes. The event was constructed collectively, welcoming requests and proposals from the organizations that took part in meetings and preparatory meetings.
The Reggio stage of the 2024 Proximity Biennial
The ribbon cutting will be Friday June 21st pv, at 4.30 pm, at the Ecolandia Park, with a poetic overture that celebrates Taurianova as the Italian Capital of the Book, in collaboration with Città del Sole Edizioni, to continue with the confiscated property located inside the Park, with the first two discussion panels, with the participation also of representatives of the national promoting committee. The day will end with two live music concerts by Augusto Favaloro and Pasquale Campolo and by Killing Cartisano, an artistic project by singer-songwriter Roberta Cartisano.
On the day of June 22ndfrom 09.30, the works of the Biennale will take place at the Reuse Center of the Roma social cooperative 1995, for the last two discussion panels, at the same time as Officine Lavoro 2 will take place, a regeneration laboratory which will see the participation of young people of the “Don Italo Calabrò” Youth Center.
The conclusions of the Biennale will be at the nearby health center of the ACE – Medicina Solidale association, in the heart of the Arghillà district, where at 8.30 pm there will be an outdoor screening of the film Un mondo a parte, by director Riccardo Milani, a comedy which tells of the attempt of the protagonist, played by Antonio Albanese, to save a small village school, a metaphor for the remainder of Vito Teti who we hope will give strength and light to the communities.
