Luciano Darderi overtakes Arnaldi and is n.3 in Italy! The new ranking after the victory in Perugia

Luciano Darderi continues his climb. The Italian-Argentine tennis player made the most of his participation in the Perugia Challenger, on clay. Making the most of being the first seed, he took home the title by overtaking the Indian in the final Sumit Nagal with the score of 6-1 6-2, thus closing his adventure in Umbria without losing a set.

Meanwhile, his ranking continues to improve. Thanks to today’s success Darderi updates his best ranking, forcefully returning to the top 40. He has gained seven positions, breaking into number 34 in the world and becoming number 3 in Italy with 1231 pointsputting Matteo Arnaldi behind him who therefore comes down from the virtual tricolor podium.

Not bad for a player who just over four months ago was well above the hundredth position in the rankings, exactly number 136. In eighteen weeks Luciano has therefore gained 102 positions and is destined to gain more, given the few results to defend during the rest of the season, only 14 in the next 5 weeks.

A further substantial improvement cannot therefore be ruled out, although his game still needs to be tested on surfaces other than clay, where he is officially becoming a truly difficult player to face. By gaining another position, taking into account Novak Djokovic’s absence in the coming weeks, he would even be seeded at Wimbledon.
