THEThe weekend in Maggiora confirmed what has been seen throughout these first ten rounds of the MXGP world championship. Prado and mud don’t mix. If the Spaniard’s weekend, fighting for the world championship, started badly, suffering a P6 in qualifying, it ended even worse. The downpours that hit the Maggiora circuit transformed it into a swamp and the ground, especially on Saturday, was really very heavy.

On Sunday, however, thanks to the beautiful summer sun, the track gradually improved and Prado after a fantastic race 1in which he fought with Tim Gajser, he was ready to repeat himself, or at least, to try to stem the Slovenian’s escape in the championship.

Two corners were enough, however, to turn the Spaniard’s Italian weekend upside down.

Contact with Valentin Guillod caused a large pile in turn two and Prado was hit by several drivers following him.

After leaving very late, he returned to the pit lane, making a brief stop before resuming the track. Just a few more steps before abandoning the race for good. We saw him holding his shoulder and limping noticeably as he headed towards the Gas Gas Red Bull Factory Racing team truck.

Certainly with Tim Gajser’s second place in race 2 the race towards reconfirmation of the title becomes particularly difficult but be careful because with this injury everything could become exponentially more complicated.
