On Friday evening, a call came to the Police Headquarters Operations Center via the emergency number “112 NUE” for a report of a theft in progress at the INTERSPAR Supermarket in via Buozzi.
The “Flying” team crews of the State Police, along the way to get to the supermarket, in the immediate vicinity of the reported place, noticed a man running across the road without paying attention to the traffic, and on the other side of the street, a security officer who was trying to restrain another individual. After reaching and blocking the fugitive, the Police approached the Supermarket Security Officer to shed light on what had happened:

The latter explained to the Agents that the two subjects – later identified as ML, a 25-year-old Algerian, and a 29-year-old HEM of Moroccan origins, both homeless, in compliance with the Residence Permit and with numerous criminal records against them – they had tried to get past the INTERSPAR electronic cash registers with backpacks full of stolen goods; at that point, the Officer had tried to make them open their backpacks, but ML had thrown a violent punch to his face, causing a wound to his upper lip and thus managing to escape before being stopped by the Police.
Accompanied to the police station for the continuation of the investigations, it was here possible to ascertain that HEM was banned from returning to the Municipality of Bolzano.

Once the Judicial Police procedures were completed, the two subjects were reported to the Judicial Authority for the crimes of attempted aggravated theft and personal injury, while HEM also for the crime of violation of the Mandatory Street Sign.
In consideration of the incident and the criminal records found, the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori ordered the Revocation of the Residence Permit for both of them. In the event that they do not comply, leaving our country within 14 days, they will be considered illegal immigrants for all intents and purposes, with the consequent application of the rules on expulsion.

“With increasing frequency, it happens that convicted criminals caught stealing from commercial establishments react with disproportionate violence, endangering the safety of employees, security personnel and law enforcement officers – highlighted Commissioner Sartori – . This cannot be tolerated, and it is for this reason that these situations are treated with the utmost severity in the application of the specific measures provided for by law”.
