THE EAGLE. The payment of the fourteenth is approaching. This is the additional monthly payment resulting from trade union agreements and provided for only in some collective agreements. It is paid to workers in the tertiary sector with the trade contract, in the chemical sector, in the road haulage and logistics sector, in the food sector, in the cleaning sector and in the tourism sector. It may differ depending on the contract applied and is paid in June or July. The reference period runs from the 10th to the end of the month. Even as regards pensioners, the fourteenth is paid only to those who have the minimum pension and below a certain income threshold. The calculation of the fourteenth is based on slightly different formulas and take different periods of the year as reference. For pensioners, the additional monthly payment is paid with the July payslip and is available in the current account or postal booklet. This extra salary was created as income support in view of the summer holidays and is usually used for this very reason. The amount is not equivalent to that of the payslip for the month of July and varies based on some parameters: the full monthly payment is paid to those who have a pension of up to 1.5 times the minimum, while it is reduced for those who have a monthly allowance between 1.5 and 2 times the minimum.
The sum is communicated year by year by INPS and the value can change based on inflation and current regulations. The calculation of the fourteenth is similar to that of the thirteenth, but with some substantial differences. The first big difference concerns the reference period which goes from 1 July to 30 June of the following year.
Another purely summer economic aid is represented by the 730 reimbursement which in most cases is recognized to employees and pensioners who have no other income and who have made deductible expenses in 2023. The actual payment of the refund in the summer months, however, also depends on the timing of presentation of the 730, given that it is paid with the dues for the month following the presentation of the tax return.
