After three years the Virtus Cagliari come back in A2 Female. Fabrizio Staico’s team beats Padua also in game 2 and achieved promotion to the second national basketball series. A milestone for the Virtussins and for the entire island basketball movement, which next year will have two teams representing the Island.

The promotion comes after a practically perfect season, with just two defeats proving painless in the play-off phase. After +8 in the first leg, Virtus with a display of personality and maturity beat Melsed 67-60. The approach in the first period was decisive, closing with a double-digit advantage of 20-10. However, the calm was also decisive when between the third and final period the Venetian team tried to find a way to reopen the match. On top, Corda, who finished with 19 points, and Valtcheva, who stopped at 18.
