Frost. The DC, among the main political sponsors of the Cosenza coalition in the administrative elections, raises the wall in defense of the leader Salvatore Cuffaro. During the day, the Ars parliamentarian Nuccio Di Paola spoke of forces, those that support Terenziano Di Stefano, all aimed at preventing “the city from ending up in the hands of Cuffaro”. For Di Paola, in fact, the candidacy of the engineer Cosentino above all bears the signature of the former president of the Region. “The Honorable Di Paola is going through politically difficult times and is experiencing a state of great frustration. We understand – say the national leader Barranco and the exponents of the provincial direction of the party – seeing his movement reduced in his own city to an irrelevant force which, to reach the quorum of five percent, must resort to figures external to the party, has the effect to cause discouragement and disappointment. Try to find the reasons for this disastrous result and avoid dealing with Cuffaro, a personality well above his reach, both in terms of human and political sensitivity and in his ability to know how to interpret the needs of our land”. The role of the DC leader, in this electoral campaign, has also emerged several times from the stage of the “Alliance for Gela” candidate, in relation to the former governor’s conviction for aiding and abetting the mafia. Di Paola reiterated that there was precisely the DC reference behind the choices of the broad moderate-centre-right pact that led to Cosentino’s run.
