LIVORNO. The “Hortus conclusus” exhibition begins
a garden of culture and entertainment in the heart of the San Jacopo district. It is the garden of the Oami center in Borgo San Jacopo which will host seven free meetings with eight artists, scholars and professionals: starting on 20 June with Paolo Migone and Pier Giorgio Curti
THE REVIEW
Starting from June 20th the Oami of Livorno opens its doors to the city: in the enchanted space of the structure’s garden, in Borgo San Jacopo 136, a series of events entitled Hortus Conclusus will begin – a garden of culture and entertainment for everyone.
The initiative, whose name is inspired by medieval closed gardens, symbols of reflection and growth, aims to create an open space for dialogue, learning and sharing.
Thursdays in the Oami garden will give the city conferences on photography, art, philosophy, music, theater and classical culture and will bring together a varied group of well-known and appreciated professionals and intellectuals: from the comedian Paolo Migone to the photographer and former culture councilor of the Municipality of Livorno Serafino Fasulo, by the philosopher and professor of aesthetics Massimo Carboni to the internationally renowned artist Gino Sabatino Odoardi, by the historian of Roman law Aniello Parma to the theater director and high school teacher Lamberto Gianninifinally with the musician and musicologist Marco Lenzi and the scientific director of the event and director of the Oami centre, the psychoanalyst Pier Giorgio Curti.
A unique blend of skills that will give life to a rich and stimulating program, designed to involve a heterogeneous audience and encourage the integration of all the components of the city: «Hortus Conclusus was born from the belief that culture and entertainment are powerful tools of social cohesion – states Pier Giorgio Curti – we want to demonstrate that learning can be fun and accessible to everyone, and that shared laughter can break down barriers”.
The first appointment is for Thursday 20 June at 9.30pm: on the centenary of Kafka’s death, the Hortus Conclusus in Borgo San Jacopo will host a semi-serious dialogue on the Prague writer’s Metamorphosis. The protagonists are the comedian Paolo Migone and the psychoanalyst Pier Giorgio Curti.
Paolo Migone is an actor, director and theater and television author: his is a corrosive comedy and together with the inimitable Tuscan bite it characterizes his unmistakable style. The favorite topic of his shows is the eternal game between men and women, which seems to provide him with inexhaustible creative ideas. His eye is always attentive to contemporary customs and the reality of our time.
Pier Giorgio Curti is a psychoanalyst, philosopher and essayist and directs the OAMI Livorno structures.
The Oami center (Operation for assistance to disabled people) has been active for decades in the Livorno area and offers support to disadvantaged people and their families. The services offered, under the umbrella of the Vasta Area Local Health Authority, are the family home and the daytime socialization center for mentally disabled adults. It is directed by Dr. Pier Giorgio Curti.
