After the awards ceremony, with FASI President Davide Battistella present to award the medals to the athletes, DT Cristina Cascone officially handed over the national team uniforms to three new members of the Italian team: Tommaso Mazzotti, Fiamma Cocchi and Laura Di Mauro.
President Battistella wanted to underline the commitment and enthusiasm that is constantly invested in this sector: “Congratulations to the organisation, to Just Climb and to all the athletes. But special thanks to the route setters because a race is successful when the routes are traced specifically to bring out the best in the athletes. The five-circle objective would be the maximum consecration for Paraclimbing and its development, so we are confident that it can arrive at Los Angeles 2028.
Congratulations to our Technical Director Cristina Cascone and the federal technicians who are doing an incredible job to support the growth of our kids.”
In turn, the DT Cristina Cascone declared: “I thank the staff I work with: Luca Montanari, Camilla Bendazzoli and the physiotherapist Daniele Audia. The President is right about tracking: we are lucky enough to have Loris Manzana, an international tracker and this makes the difference, both in the organization of our rallies and in the races.
With the national team we competed in the World Cup in Salt Lake City, next weekend we will compete in Innsbruck and then, after 10 years, the Paraclimbing World Cup will return to Italy, in Arco di Trento. This is an incredible effort put in place by the entire Federation, strongly supported by our President, a step that seals the growth of this movement. We will be lucky enough to organize it inside the Federal Center of Arco di Trento, which is under renovation, and it will be the opportunity to officially inaugurate it”
Mauro Rozzi was also present to reward the athletes, representing the Reggio Emilia Sports Foundation, who brought greetings from the Foundation, the Municipal Administration and the Mayor Marco Massari: “I would like to congratulate the athletes who they are setting a significant example for many other kids who can engage in climbing or other sporting activities.
My compliments to FASI because it is a Federation that is growing a lot: when you work with a solid base then you reap the results.”
Some of the athletes present at the Championship will participate in the national team meeting this morning, in view of the next World Cup match in Innsbruck on 24-25 June.
