The Horticultural Garden reopens its doors on 15 June 2024, consolidating its role as a summer meeting point in the garden in Via Vittorio Emanuele II, 4, in the heart of Florence, in district 5. A new management of the space, completely renewed. In the rich calendar of events with over 90 appointments, the Orti Cult.ura! project aims to integrate the synergy between humanity and the surrounding environment by creating a multifunctional and inclusive environment.
Cultural programming
A series of events will be planned that will talk about sustainable mobility in particular, during the Tour de France 2024, thanks to the collaboration with the Friends of the Gino Bartali Museum Association, the Italian Environment and Bicycle Federation (FIAB) and pedal-assisted bicycles ( FirenzE-Bike) and on a tribute performance to the Grand Tour. In the environmental one, thanks to the collaboration with the Società Toscana Orticultura, botanical art workshops, treasure hunts, yoga in nature, natural printing, with Plastic Free, Replace Italia, Centro Creazione will be organized and Culture and Friends of the Earth awareness days on pollution and climate change, with Restarters Florence the good practices of reuse.
In the field of Theater and Performing Arts, in collaboration with Stazione Utopia, Venti Lucenti, Centro di Teatro Internazionale, Il Vivaio del Malcantone, Nuovo Balletto di Toscana, Centrale dell’Arte, Fa.RM and Pupi di Stac, days dedicated to workshops for adults and children, dance performances, theater and puppet shows, all sharing the vision of inclusive art.
In the field of Art, the programming will involve Street Levels Gallery, Three Faces and Uovo Studio. Then the International Comics School; followed by the cultural association La Mosca, committed to showing the synergy between artistic expression and gender issues. Finally, the Atelier Martenot, which aims to bring children and families closer to the wonderful world of painting and ceramics, and the photography courses of the photographer Edoardo Argenio. For reading, the book presentations will be organized by the On The Road Bookshop, while for poetry by I Ripescati dalla Piena and for fairy tales by the Triboo Cultural Association. In the field of innovation, Gold Enterprise supports you! represents a key element. Their expertise in producing immersive audiovisual content and using virtual reality to tell stories offers a unique opportunity to engage audiences in an innovative and exciting way.
Sports and markets
For the Market Area, Wonderful Market and Cia-Agricoltori Italiani will be involved. For well-being, days of Yoga, Pilates and Ayurvedic treatments will be organized with Jiva Studio. For sport, thanks to the collaboration with The Camp together with Soluzioni Smart, during the projection of the 2024 European Football Championships on the giant screen, Love & Gol, the sports lounge curated by Benedetto Ferrara with prominent guests from the football and sports scene as well as the open of subbuteo thanks to the collaboration of Subbuteo Lab.
A small recreational area will be set up with open table football and table tennis tournaments and chess material thanks to AD Firenze Scacchi. For the little ones, among the many workshop initiatives, one of the surprises will be the baptism of the saddle, with the ponies arriving at the horticultural garden thanks to the collaboration with Toscana Equitazione as well as linked to the animal world a grooming demonstration by Federico Grooming.
For dance, swing evenings in collaboration with Swing Studio 22, pizzica and Taranta evenings by Chiara Garuglieri’s Tarante Fiorentine and salsa evenings by the La Salsa Cubana school. There will be labs and English courses organized by My English School, modeling, tailoring and craftsmanship workshop activities organized by Miss Merenda in Sartoria. Among the key themes there will be particular attention dedicated to social issues and road safety thanks to the days in collaboration with the Gabriele Borgogni Association and the Niccolo Galli Foundation as well as issues related to the Casa delle Donne project organized by the CO-CO’ Association and some projects in collaboration with the Il Girasole Social Cooperative.
