Capodimonte, three events to celebrate Giulia Farnese

Sunday 16 June, from 9.30 to 18.00, as part of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the death of Giulia Farnesecalled “the Beautiful”, the historic center of Capodimonte it will be transformed into an open-air atelier with the former tempore of painting by title “Between Sky, Earth and Water… the dreams of Giulia Farnese”edited by Paolo Berti and of Viva Gallery of Soriano nel Cimino. Numerous artists will meet in the heart of the delightful lakeside village to translate the inspirations suggested by the figure of the famous Renaissance noblewoman onto their canvases.

At 6.30 pm, at the end of the pictorial performance, in the City Council Hall, it will be presented the commemorative coin dedicated to Giulia Farnese, minted in both bronze and silver by the Master Marco Guglielmi of the Ancient Mint of Viterbo. The numismatic expert from Viterbo was able to establish the main iconographic references of the sixteenth century coins, also reporting the ancient Farnese motto: “Virtus Securitatem Parit”. Guglielmi also involved the fine ceramist Vincenzo Dobboloni, aka Mastro Cencio, who created two wonderful plates with the same characteristics as those coeval with Giulia “La Bella” and an exclusive jewelery box to contain one of the ten silver medals in a hand-numbered edition. Mastro Cencio’s creations will also be exhibited in the Council Room. The event will be opened by Fulvio Ricci’s historical introduction.

Finally, last but not least, at 7.30 pm, a performance by the young musician and composer from the Marche region is scheduled on the lakeside Valentino Alessandrini. The “golden boy of the violin”, at the edge of the sunset, will accompany the audience present on an evocative musical journey entitled “Melodies for Giulia”.
