Reggio Calabria, the League is very harsh: “Falcomatà resigns”

“We have already said it and we repeat it, we are guaranteeists and we are also towards Mayor Falcomatà, but it is clear that what is happening cannot fail to have repercussions on a political level”. The city councilors of the League group said this in a note Antonino Caridi, Giuseppe De Biasi, Nino Minicuci, Armando Neri And Mario Cardia “The City of Reggio Calabria must be protected.

“We would like to talk about the beauty it expresses, about projects and the future, about the generosity and industriousness of its citizens. Instead, for a few days now she has been in the news for legal events that have hurt and humiliated her. Like the investigation of recent days which, once again, causes concern and discouragement and strikes at the heart of the good name of the City”.

It is on the City Council that the City Councilors Caridi, De Biasi, Mini sewing machines, Black And Cardia they certainly don’t send them to the Mayor Falcomata:We have deep respect for the man Falcomatà, who has every right to defend himself in the appropriate forums where, we are convinced, he will clarify his position. At the same time, however, together with his democratic party, the time has come to pull the plug. Let them have a leap of pride, go home and give the floor back to the voters. We can no longer accept that the people of Reggio continue to witness this agony. The latest Falcomatiana drama was broadcast in the city council. An extraordinary municipal council regarding the Strait Bridge. We are supporters of an important work for the development of our territory. A fundamental work which, thanks to the work of our Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, will be carried out. However, common sense and respect for the people of Reggio would have recommended a very different attitude to the Mayor and the majority. Perhaps the Mayor could have provided an explanation for many serious circumstances that have emerged in recent hours, again from a political point of view and out of respect for the people of Reggio. Because although we certainly would not have wanted to transform the council chamber into a courtroom, it is necessary to provide some explanation to the citizens. And instead, he preferred, once again, to carry on, pretending nothing had happened. Pretending that nothing is happening and has happened, staging a comedy alongside a plethora of condescending and smiling councilors at the inappropriate performances of their favorite boss and mistaking the council chamber for a theatre. We, however, are very tried and worried. Because it is not the first time that the City finds itself catapulted into oblivion by judicial events. So much so that we decided not to participate in the City Council, because we believed that what happened to Mayor Falcomatà and other exponents of the democratic party who have been administering our City for years, cannot register their indifference as a response. A terrifying indifference and an attempt to divert the attention of institutions and citizens in the face of news events which, instead, should have imposed primary and courageous reflections to be put before anything else. A real drama by Mayor Falcomatà and the democratic party who tried to attribute their failures to others. How can we talk about territorial development, after years and years of government led by Falcomatà and the Democratic Party, which have brought our city to the last place in all the liveability rankings of Italian cities. Faced with one’s own total administrative incapacity, how can one talk about impediments to the development of the territory determined by others and even by the League. How can we talk about a foreign foot that presses on the heart and oppresses the development of the territory.”

And in conclusion: “We feel sorry for the Mayor, after the recent news events, we are increasingly convinced that this territory must be freed from malfeasance, from those who look for shortcuts, from the mafia, certainly not from those who practice politics in a democratic way and try to best represent the citizens or by those who aspire to their economic and social progress. And if a foot exists and presses on the heart of the development of Reggio Calabria, this foot is that of delinquency, but certainly not that of Alberto da Giussano. Today Reggio Calabria needs to free itself from the cancer of the mafia. These are the words we would have expected yesterday in the City Council.”
