The first new face of the Mens Sana Basketball 2024/25 will almost certainly be the winger Alessandro Pucci (in the photo), a small forward born in 1992 who grew up in Mens Sana (with which he also made his first team debut in 2009/2009) before begin a long wander around Tuscany, also passing through Siena, the Virtus side. Pucci had already been linked to Mens Sana a couple of years ago but nothing came of it. This time, however, the white smoke is really around the corner and he could arrive before knowing which category the green and whites will be placed in. In fact, Pucci should arrive regardless. Slightly different story for Andrea Belli, seven years younger point guard and also returning from several positive years in Castelfiorentino. Belli, who also passed through the ‘cantera’ of Viale Sclavo in the years immediately following the first failure, is a hot name especially in the event of a repechage. If, however, Mens Sana remains in C, the matter would become more complex but not impossible. Of the veterans from last season, the confirmation of Pannini, Tognazzi, Marrucci and Sabia is practically certain regardless, while the category will weigh heavily on the others, Prosek first and foremost. Moving on to recent exes, this week two of them celebrated the jump in category: Giovanni Vildera with Trieste won promotion to Serie A1 by beating one of the favourites, Cantù, in game 4. Dorin Buca, on the other hand, achieved the pass for the A2 by winning game 5 in Roseto with his Libertas Livorno. Still on the subject of exes, American guard Matt Janning announced his retirement: at 36, in fact, the player, protagonist in the last two seasons of Mps Mens Sana between 2012 and 2014 (a championship and an Italian Cup which were then revoked) has decided to stop at the end of an experience in Japan.
