The staff of the flying squad of the Viareggio police station arrested this morning (25 June) a 38-year-old man of Moroccan origin who had been stopped during the night in via Belluomini in Viareggio.
It was four in the morning when a police car from the Viareggio police station noticed a man on a bicycle behaving suspiciously in via Belluomini. The officers decided to proceed with checking him but, once he was joined, the man immediately attempted to escape on board the bicycle; However, after traveling a few tens of metres, he fell to the ground. Reached by officers he tried to hit them with kicks and punches and then fled on foot again. Also in this case, after a few meters the man was blocked but he reacted again with violence, so much so that the police were forced to handcuff him and take him to the police station. In the offices the subject was identified by the forensic police and his identity was traced to some episodes against him including robberies, thefts and drug dealing.
They were found in the backpack he was carrying on his shoulder 2 Samsung tablets and 3 smartphonestens of euros in coins, 65 euros in banknotes, two bottles of spirits still sealed and a ball of whitish substance which later turned out to be a crushed medicine probably used by the man to defraud some drug users; to the officers’ questions about possession of the objects, the man was unable to provide a justification.
At the end of the investigations, the man was arrested for the crimes of resisting a public official and receiving stolen goods pending the validation hearing which will be held tomorrow morning (June 26). Investigations continue to identify the owners of the objects found.
