Manfredonia, La Marca responds to Galli: “Failure in style, disappointed with the first round”

The delegitimization of the opponent is a fall in style that qualifies the person. For a few days, perhaps due to nervousness linked to the disappointing results of the first round, my opponent in the run-off, Ugo Galli, has continued to attack me, using bogeymen and non-existent dangers.

A real lapse in style on the part of those who, despite a superficial respect, continue to insult and denigrate my person and the coalition that supports me while I, with respect and loyalty, continue my electoral campaign by meeting, listening and explaining my city project to my fellow citizens.

The lines of a poem by Costantino Kavafis came to mind. In a country where all civil and legislative activities had been suspended awaiting the arrival of the barbarians, the barbarians did not arrive and everything, on that day, remained at a standstill. Kavafis writes: “And now, without barbarians, what will become of us? It was a solution, those people.”

Here: Galli’s attack on me is his solution, a solution to the lack of credible topics, themes, proposals and perspectives for the city. Those who choose only to attack and delegitimize the enemy and those who only go against someone and not in favor of something hide a major problem of credibility and political strength.

We, for our part, do not need to attack Galli to gain consensus. We win the voters’ trust, day after day, street by street, house by house, explaining to the city the validity of our electoral program.

Galli, instead of stirring up ghosts and paper tigers, should talk to us about the present and the “quality” of his coalition.

What do you have to say, Galli, about the fact that among the parties and movements that support him there are people mentioned in the “Omnia Nostra” operation and in the more recent “Hands off” operation which, for the first time in our city, led to the arrests of some prominent members of the former government majority?

How does a rather picturesque character and a councilor declared unpresentable by the parliamentary anti-mafia commission last May 30 who continued to campaign, even attending her last rally, despite the Has Galli himself apparently distanced himself from her?

How does the city justify a coalition made up of defectors, old handlers of local politics and people who undermined the stability, for personal interests, of the former municipal council?

And, finally: how can it welcome, if it considers Manfredonia’s political past so harmful, people who determined and participated in a decisive way in that political season?

The next administration and the next city council have very important challenges ahead of them. I am happy with the human capital that could accompany me in this adventure, in the event of victory.

A competent, credible and transparent team: esteemed professionals, women and men who are free, independent and engaged in various capacities in the sectors of entrepreneurship, education, innovation, associations, culture and the third sector.

Out of fifteen seats assigned to the majority, as many as ten could be held by people who have never served on the city council. An exceptional figure that testifies to a profound renewal of the centre-left ruling class.

Furthermore, together with them, four former minority councilors would also return who, in the last three years, have played a very important role in monitoring, denouncing and opposing the previous council.

On Sunday 23 (from 7.00 to 23.00) and Monday 24 June (from 7.00 to 15.00) we choose carefully who to entrust the city to. Manfredonia needs planning and new forces. Anyone who only knows how to denigrate their opponent denotes a lack of arguments and concrete proposals for our beloved city.
