Fresu will be the author and performer of “Miles!”, a show that will make its world premiere at the Comunale in Bolzano on October 24th (reruns until the 27th). A tribute to Miles Davis born from the music composed by Fresu himself and performed live by very high profile musicians. The direction is by Andrea Bernard from Bolzano, recently awarded the Franco Abbiati Prize.
However, the preview of “Mein Kampf”, by Stefano Massini, now a frequent guest of the Bolzano seasons. The new “homily” by the Tuscan playwright is co-produced by the Piccolo Teatro-Teatro D’Europa and the Tsb, with the collaboration of the Teatro Nazionale della Toscana.
Also back on the billformer director of the TSB Marco Bernardi directed by “Spring Awakening” text by Franz Wedekind, emblem of youth conditions of all times. Presented from 4 to 16 March in the Teatro Studio del Comunale di Bolzano, “Spring Awakening” is a Tsb co-production with the Teatro Stabile di Torino – Teatro Nazionale.
In synergy with the National Theaters of Turin and Veneto, from 14 to 17 November the TSB stages “Things I know to be true”, the first Italian staging of Andrew Bovell’s powerful comedy. Directed and performed by Valerio Binasco, joined on stage by Giuliana De Sio, the play describes the typical mechanisms of family structures. Same production formula also for “The Terrible Relatives”, a cross-section of Jean Cocteau’s society and family. Considered the most successful theatrical work by the French author, the comedy is presented at the Teatro Comunale from 19 to 22 December directed and performed by another usual protagonist of the Bolzano seasons: Filippo Dini. This is, however, his first collaboration with the TSB Sergio Rubini, author and director of “The Jekyll Case”, a show co-produced together with the Fondazione Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Bellini and Marche Teatro, on stage in Bolzano from 9 to 12 January. Starring Rubini and Daniele Russo, “The Jekyll Case” is a psychoanalytic reading of the famous novel “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” with which Robert Louis Stevenson brings to light the double that dwells in each of us.
From 12 to 15 December the Sala Grande will host “Il Risveglio”, a new show by and with Pippo Delbono, appreciated for his poetic and visionary shows, capable of mixing autobiography and history. This recent choral creation, which sees Delbono on stage with his company, is co-produced by the TSB together with Emilia Romagna Teatro ERT / Teatro Nazionale and seven other Italian, French and Romanian theater institutions.
“Darwin, Nevada”, the new show starring Marco Paolini, written together with Francesco Niccolini in collaboration with Telmo Pievani who makes use of the scientific consultancy of Niles Eldredge and James Moore. Speaking of productions, that’s it the “in hospitality” shows which complete the Bolzano program. From 5 to 8 December Toni Servillo accompanies the public in the reading “Three ways to not die” written by Giuseppe Montesano, which aims to be an antidote to the paralysis of thought, to the non-life that tries to swallow us. From January 30th to February 2nd Paolo Genovese signs his first theatrical direction by bringing to the stage the adaptation of “Perfect Strangers”, his sensational cinematographic success. From 9 to 13 April, “Lazarus”, David Bowie’s rock opera, the creative testament of the British rock star, arrives in the TSB Season. A special event, presented for five performances at the Comunale di Bolzano, which sees Valter Malosti sign the direction and the Italian version of the text and the rocker Manuel Agnelli in the role of the tormented protagonist of this work, full of numerous historical songs by Bowie and others written specifically for the occasion.
This year too, thanks to the consolidated collaboration with the Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara di Trento, the subscription season is enriched with two appointments with international contemporary dance. From November 28th to December 1st Opus Ballet, a collective artistically directed by Rosanna Brocanello, presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare with choreography by Davide Bombana. From March 27th to 30th Kidd Pivot, a leading Canadian company of dance theatre, signs the evocative show “Assembly Hall”, created by the choreographer Crystal Pite and the actor Jonathon Young.
