Carrara, Marconi scientific high school become shelter for homeless: raid by the Carabinieri

CARRARA – The Marconi scientific high school is no exception, and like many other abandoned buildings, whether public or private, it has become a shelter for homeless people and non-EU citizens. The Carabinieri discovered this when they went into action last Thursday, surprising four non-EU citizens there even though in reality there were many more beds scattered in the dozens of classrooms. Not only that: the building and in particular its roof, last Sunday had become a sui generis ‘stand’ for many fans, who, having failed to find the highly requested ticket for the Carrarese-Vicenza play-off match, had solved by using the school complex that has been closed for years and very close to the stadium. We would like to remind you that the structure has been off limits for years due to various problems, including static problems. It is therefore in a dangerous situation for anyone who enters and the large number of people who arrived on the roof caused a lot of concern.

At this point, the Province, which among other things has recently presented an ambitious recovery project with demolition and reconstruction of the complex and is now waiting for funding, is working on cleaning the external part of the building and restoring the barriers which prevent access, given that breaches had been opened over time.
