A new crime episode shook the city of Bari in the early hours of yesterday, when a group of criminals targeted the Banca Novara ATM, located in the central district of the city. The attack, which occurred around 3 in the morning, saw the thieves act with a speed and precision that left residents and law enforcement dismayed.
According to initial reconstructions, the thieves arrived on site in two cars, both of which later turned out to be stolen. Using specialized equipment, including a crowbar and an explosive device, they forced open the ATM and removed its contents. The controlled explosion caused significant damage to the structure of the ATM, but fortunately did not cause any injuries among passers-by, thanks also to the time in which the criminal action took place.
Initial estimates speak of a loot of around 50,000 euros, a figure which could vary based on ongoing checks. The damage to the bank and adjacent shops is extensive, with windows shattered and structures damaged by the shock wave of the explosion. Residents in the area reported hearing a loud bang, followed by the ATM alarm and the sounds of cars fleeing.
