In Novara, the case is mounting of another condominium manager who allegedly pocketed the money from the buildings he managed. It brings to mind the most famous one of the surveyor from Novara now resident in Valle d’Aosta who ten years ago was also arrested for having left dozens of residential complexes in the cold – the meters were sealed by the creditor companies. There are also reports and complaints against a 58-year-old professional who has a studio in the city together with his wife. The man is well known in Novara also for his great passion for historic cars which led him to hold roles within associations dealing with the sector.
Precisely into this passion of his, according to the first investigative findings, he poured the money taken from the condominium accounts. There are already some complaints for the crime of embezzlement. One is being examined by the Carabinieri, for an amount of around 80 thousand euros, others by the judicial police of the prosecutor’s office. The undue sum would be a sort of “treasure”, amounting to hundreds of thousands of euros. There are already some foreclosure orders obtained from the creditors, which were not carried out because the man did not show up for the appointment for the delivery of the seized cars, in the shed where he keeps his collection. In one of the complaints presented to the prosecutor’s office by the condominium owners of a complex in the San Martino area, it is noted that the man’s office managed the property for 6 years, until last January when the assembly, with no small effort , revoked the mandate.
It all started by chance, because a few months earlier the owner of the cleaning company complained to one of the tenants about missing payments for at least 18 months. Following checks and verifications, unjustified withdrawals and payments were found, carried out by the only people who were willing to operate on the current account, the administrator and his wife. The disbursements – the accounts in hand speak of 41,600 euros – have never been given an account in the condominium statements; they were not even brought to the budget for approval. The attempt to ask for explanations was useless: no answers were ever provided. Just an initial email: «We will do the calculations and update ourselves». Then nothing more. In this, as in other cases brought to the attention of the police, the administrator could not be found. Or he denies it. He will have to give the answers, if he wants, in the judicial offices. —
