Three appointments to understand more and better what the concrete implications of PINQuA will be, the national innovative program for the quality of living, financed byEuropean Union.

Three moments of meeting and comparison on the territory to illustrate the details of interventions intended to change the face of some peripheral areas of the city of Reggio Calabria.

Get to the heart of it the activity of PINQuA, with the coordination of the councilor for the “Ordered City”, Elisa Zoccali, through the planning of a calendar of meetings with the citizens.

We will leave next June 20th, from 3pm to 5pmat the “Mary Help of Christians” institute in Modena, where the municipal administration will discuss the project called “BE in Ciccarello: Social Equity, Residential Ecological Sustainability”. An intervention that will allow the neighborhood to become more accessible, safe, inclusive, sustainable and resilient in terms of social and cultural equity, personal and housing well-being and technological innovation. The amount of financing for this intervention is equal to 15 million euros. The interventions will concern the redevelopment of the municipal building heritage and the relevant external spaces; the urban regeneration of public spaces (urban theme park); the redevelopment of neighborhood public spaces with interventions to combat climate change.

The calendar of events then includes two other stages: Thursday 27 June 2024, from 3pm to 5pmin the training room of the local police command of Reggio Calabria regarding the R.EG.IA project (ecological redevelopment large environmental interventions) in Reggio South area. This intervention, also for an amount of 15 million euros, will consist of the redevelopment of assets abandoned by the railways and acquired as municipal assets; redevelopment of public spaces in the neighborhood with a major climate change intervention; redevelopment and strengthening of strategic road infrastructures and accessibility to neighborhoods.

The third appointment is scheduled for Thursday 4 July 2024, from 3pm to 5pmat the Youth Center in front of the Arghillà Sud church, where the intervention will be presented “UNLESS” (“In extreme evils…new community organization in essential habitats”). Also in this case the financing amount is equal to 15 million euros and provides for a program of urban ecological enhancement, community welfare and essential services in the neighborhood of Clay. There will be redevelopment interventions on the municipal building heritage and the relevant external spaces; the urban redevelopment of neighborhood public spaces with climate mitigation interventions; the strengthening of greenery and educational spaces, as well as the redevelopment of the ancient military infirmaries in the Ecolandia park.

Overall, the financing obtained for the PINQuA is equal to 54 million euros which includes the 45 million portion of the amount admitted for financing, in addition to the FOI fund (Non-deferrable works fund) for an amount of 9 million euros.
