With the bicycle to revolutionize urban and tourist mobility

The presentation was held on Saturday morning in the Hall of Mirrors of the City Hall of Taranto of “Bike Hospitality”, the ambitious project that aims to revolutionize urban and tourist mobility through the use of bicycles. The initiative, promoted by Italian Cycling Federation for Sustainable Mobilitysees the collaboration of numerous Italian municipalities committed to encouraging the use of “two wheels” as a means of daily transport and a tool for tourism enhancement.

The project, which places particular emphasis on starting up youth activity, makes use of the organizational structure of the Federation, which offers its support thanks to a widespread network that extends across the entire national territory.

Numerous speakers spoke, including deputy mayor and councilor of Taranto, Gianni Azzarowho underlined the importance of this initiative both for the “city of the two seas”, a city that is experiencing a phase of profound change in every sector, and for the well-being of its citizens.

This project is not only a step forward towards a greener and more sustainable city, but also represents a way of conceiving tourism in different forms, alternatives to the traditional ones. It certainly demonstrates an opportunity for growth for young people and development for the tourism sector Azzaro said-. And this is why the Italian Cycling Federation for Sustainable Mobility and the Municipality of Taranto invite all public administrations, accommodation facilities, food and wine producers, rental companies, cycle tour guides and local stakeholders to actively participate in this initiative, helping to build a better future for our cities.”

Taranto’s role in this initiative is very important since in Puglia it is a “pilot municipality” for the promotion of cycling mobility, as was demonstrated by the signing of the relevant membership document.

By joining the “Bike Hospitality” project, created by the Italian Cycling Federation, ANCI Puglia, the Puglia Region and PugliaPromozione – added deputy mayor Azzaro- we also presented the official shirt of this initiative, but above all we signed the agreement that we will formalize in the municipal council in the next few days and which will allow us to enter a cutting-edge circuit, inspired by the sustainability that marks every action of the Melucci administration , codified in the “Taranto Ecosystem” transition plan”.

Finally, Deputy Mayor Azzaro anticipated that as an Administration we aim to “to soon create our Biciplan, an offshoot of the Pums, with many more km of cycle paths and dozens of velo stations: “Bike Hospitality” will be one of the tools we will adopt to make this expectation concrete and usable.
