“The Room of Life”, donated by AIDO to the ASST Spedali Civili of Brescia, becomes a place where the medical team will meet the family members of a deceased person who did not express his opinion on donation during his lifetime and will ask them for the possibility of donating organs of your loved one.
Deciding to donate the organs of those who have left us is a difficult decision to make and it is essential not only to have professionally trained figures who can accompany and advise family members, but also to have an intimate, dedicated and comforting space to face and decide on this not easy choice.
It all started on 14 June 2022 with a request sent by the Aido Brescia Provincial Section to illustrate the “La Stanza della Vita” project to the ASST Spedali Civili of Brescia. On December 27, 2022, the destination of “La Stanza della Vita” was announced and the project was made official. A project that came to fruition with the creation of “La Stanza della Vita”, next to the Intensive Care Unit 1, Scala 3, floor 1.
Two years later, on 13 June 2024, the AIDO Provincial President Vittoria Mensi and the Provincial Board of Directors officially handed over the keys of “La Stanza della Vita” to the ASST Spedali Civili of Brescia.
In the presence of the Company Management, the team of the Level II Organ and Tissue Donation Procurement Hospital Coordination, doctors, nurses from the ASST Spedali Civili di Brescia, the Regional Councilor Simona Tironi, the President of the Province Emanuele Moraschini and the Councilor Filippo Ferrari, of the Councilors of the Municipality of Brescia Raisa Labaran and Beatrice Nardo, of Simone Collura ATS, of the doctor and nurses ASST Franciacorta and Valle Camonica, of the Regional President of AIDO Antonio Sartor and of Alberto Astori, a ceremony was held without pomp, sober, to respect the pain of those who experience this place with suffering.
The “Room of Life” is dedicated to the memory of Aldo Astori and created with the contribution of private individuals and the AIDO Municipal/Intermunicipal Groups of the Province who believed in and supported the realization of this project.
Inside this furnished place there are decorative panels created thanks to the collaboration with the 4H class of the “Tartaglia Olivieri” Art Institute of Brescia.
The project, which began in January 2023 and ended in March 2024 thanks to the sensitivity of the teacher Dania Zanotto, allowed the students to delve deeper into the meaning of the Gift and the Hope that can be reborn from a broken life.
